About Browns Restaurant

Browns’ history is as colourful as our afternoon tea cake selection and as sparkling as our champagne collection. First established by millionaire Jeremy Mogford who opened the first Browns restaurant and Bar in Brighton all those years ago.

He went on to establish a chain, opening other restaurants mainly in university towns such as Cambridge, Oxford and Bristol. This chain blossomed into a huge success, aided by Mogford’s reputation as an enlightened and honourable employer who had an incredibly low staff turnover rate. We like to work in Mogford’s image, which is what has fuelled our successful apprenticeship scheme.
