Trading on reputation rather than performance

Dined at the Edinburgh Ivy tonight and felt underwhelmed. Decor and service/staff were lovely but meals were disappointing. Whisky flavoured steak tartare was inedible due to overpowering dijon mustard vibe and Chicken Milanese was served dry with a sprig of greenery and no sauce. Sent back steak tartare and left early. So disappointing! Edinburgh local are discerning and there are too many good eateries in town nowadays for establishments to rely on brand reputations, nice decor and friendly staff. Improvements are needed in the kitchen!
